It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

The preview shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
